8 Benefits of having your Newborn Photographed at Home

My Newborn at Home Photoshoots are becoming more popular than ever. Here are just some of the benefits of having your baby photographed at home;

Not having to pack 20 bags before you leave.

Having a home photoshoot means that you don't have to pack for what feels like a weekend away before you leave the house. Nappies? Check? Outfits? Check. Blankets, bottles, wipes, dummies, dummy wipes. Check. Coats, shoes... phew..the list goes on.

Feeding breaks.

You don't need to worry about feeding times. If I arrive and baby needs feeding, thats okay. My sessions are baby led, I book enough time out for each session to include feed and cuddle time.

Familiar surroundings.

You and your baby are in the comfort of your own home. Familiar, calm and quiet surroundings = relaxed parents and baby.

No flashing lights.

I use natural light when photographing in your home, so there's no need for flashing studio lights.

Natural Poses.

Babies are photographed in natural poses, poses that will never go out of fashion.

Sleepy Time.

Your baby doesn't have to be asleep for the photoshoot. Having some photographs of those beautiful eyes looking back at you is a keepsake you'll treasure forever.

Added Extras.

I always ask if parents would like to be in a couple of the photographs. This doesn't have to be a full cheese face, it could be part of your face, your hands or arms as you cradle your baby. So you don't need to worry about makeup and hairstyles. Siblings can be in the photos too!

Lets tell your Story.

Photographs taken at home tell your story, a story thats unique to you. Photographs that capture the emotional connection thats happening in your home at this special time in your lives.

What do you need for a Newborn at Home Photoshoot?

A room with good light, a double bed and a white sheet. Any little blankets or favourite teddies can be included too. You can dress the bed how you prefer, but lighter colours tend to work well with natural light. Creams, white, light grey and light blues produce lovely tones. I advise to stay away from dark or warm toned colours such as purple or dark pinks.

What happens after you book your photoshoot?

I will send you a short questionnaire so I can find out a bit more about you and your family before I arrive to take your photographs. If you have any questions about the photoshoot, you can contact me anytime via phone or email.

Cancelling your shoot

Life happens! Sometimes we need to reschedule and that is absolutely okay. All I ask that if you need to reschedule please give 24 hours notice.
